For the CD cover and web home page, I decided to go with album art instead of a glossy high fashion looking headshot. I wanted a landscape rich with images that represented both my journey in making the CD as well as the various concepts expressed in the lyrics of my songs.

I have highlighted a few of my favorite images, hoping that by drawing your attention to them, you will accept my invitation to share your own conclusions about these, and all the images, and the landscape as a whole. Let me appeal to your imagination!

I believe universally that everything and everyone are connected, so here we go!

The Glasses are inviting you to look closely. You will notice they are attached to tiny white web-like threads that are being spun from the loom. These white strands are the threads that hold the landscape together. The loom is a metaphor, as a loom connects threads to make cloth, so do these threads of experience connect to tell a story.  These tiny threads connect my experiences in the order of their development just as the songs progress in the order of the story being told.

The Tightrope Walker balances empty bottles, and everything around him is in precarious balance. He is walking on one of the loom threads and is headed in the direction of the bright light.

The Piano and Victrola represents my background in piano and classical music.

The Monkey Jester floating on a Butterfly is a seemingly abstract marriage of images. They can be best explained by first pointing out that the monkey symbolizes both the incompetence and animalistic instinct that fueled so many of my relationship mistakes, and also symbolizes the dandies or jesters with whom I was affiliated. The monkey, in short, is the zoo in which I was living and those who were living in it with me. In other the words, the monkey is one of the characters in the story to be told. The butterfly wings represent the music or the method by which the story will be told. The wings also represent love. Love for music and love for the songs as they are about to take flight as you listen to them and maybe even find their way into your heart.

The Girl in Curlers with the Snake is me and I am her and it represents flirtation and temptation, as old as the Garden of Eden. It is my inner “Eve” as she is the narrator of the song Better Than She Can.

The Stairs represent an ascent to a different place, a journey upward and onward, much like the journey I am inviting you to discover through the music.

Chainsaw Supermodel plays on the emotions of the song Cut Me Loose.

This is just skimming the surface. I invite you to let me know what connections you make to these images - whether you connect them to my music or to the soundtrack of your own life. Send me an email and let me know if you rhyme with orange.
